Dale Watson (singer)

Dale Watson ( born October 7, 1962 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American singer of the alternative country.

Life

Dale Watson moved in his youth to Texas, near Houston. This influenced his style of music so much that he is often considered as representative of the original Texas country music. He grew up in a musical family, and began the age of twelve original songs and texts compose. After attending high school he worked and played music for several years in local clubs and dance halls. In 1988 he moved to Los Angeles, where he received a commitment from the band of the renowned Palomino Club.

In 1990 he recorded his first singles, where in 1992 another followed. Although praised by critics, these plates were relatively unsuccessful, so he returned for a short working visit as a composer in Nashville to Texas, Austin. After three years, he released his debut album in 1995, which now more annually followed. The style varied between classic country and Truck - country songs. After the death of his fiancée in a car accident in 2000, took a radical drug and alcohol descent, which resulted in an overdose shortly before Christmas. Having barely survived, he tried a new beginning and a musical comeback after drug withdrawal.

The director Zalman King directed two documentaries with him, representing his life and his environment. In 2007 he was one of the leading American country singers with an amazing variety of engagements in Austin and Nashville. If it is not in other states or traveling abroad, Watson occurs mainly in the Greater Austin at the time, such as regularly on Mondays at the Continental Club in Austin. These concerts, which often last about three and a half hours, give a living-room atmosphere. His life's work has been honored by inclusion in the Austin Music Hall of Fame.

In October 2011 he released with the band "The Texas Two" Album "The Sun Sessions", an unmistakable tribute to Johnny Cash. In 2012, he took a role in the ensemble of the musical " Ghost Brothers of Darkland County ," which was written by Stephen King and John Mellencamp.
