Geography

Dalpe is the southernmost municipality of the upper Leventina ( Alta Leventina) and, with the municipalities of Prato Leventina and Quinto on Circolo di Quinto. 1866 Dalpe and Cornone of Prato have separated.

Thanks to its location on the plateau Dalpe is not burdened by the passing traffic through the Gotthard axis. The community has become increasingly depopulated during the 20th century and is now one of 180 inhabitants. These are mostly commuters or working in the construction industry. Agriculture employs only a few families. Since the 1950s, many houses were built in Dalpe and especially in Cornone so that the village can during the summer months up to 800-900 population count.

In the past, the people of Dalpe worked almost exclusively in agriculture. In the 19th century the population declined sharply because a large part of the population emigrated.
