The Damaraseeschwalbe ( Sternula balaenarum ) is a seabird of the tern family ( Sternidae ) within the order of Charadriiformes ( Charadriiformes shorebirds and gulls or birds).

The Damaraseeschwalbe occurs with the main breeding area in the west of South Africa, Namibia and Angola in southern Africa. Terns migrate north but also to the countries of Benin, Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Togo.

The natural habitats are shallow coasts, sandy bays and lagoons.
