Dammar gum
Dammar dammar resin or the resin of Malay- leaved trees that grow mainly on the Sunda islands. The most important source is the tree Shorea wiesneri ( Shorea ).
The name comes from the Malay and means resin or torch. Other names are: Canarium strictum, Canarium prostatum Schiffn. and cat eye resin.
The colors of the different varieties vary from clear - bright, yellowish gray to black (Sumatra - dammar ). The hardness of the Dammarharzes similar to the rosin. The fragrance is feinzitronig and easily.
Use
- For producing brighter paints, enamels, varnishes maple
- As additives for oil or tempera -resin colors
- Solved processed to Damar in turpentine, used in the oil - painting for the isolation of the canvas as well as interim and final varnish
- As incense
- As a substrate for the production of Dammardienol ( containment means for microscopic preparations and for the production of patches )
