The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is one of the FCI (No. 168, Gr. 3, sec 2) recognized British breed.

Origin and History

The Dandie Dinmont is from Scotland. Its origin is uncertain, probably he was raised by gypsies in Northumberland. 1814 described the writer Sir Walter Scott in his novel " Guy Mannering " a man who held such dogs. In consequence of this name has become increasingly popular for this breed. The race originated in 1870 as the Bedlington Terrier, from rough-coated Scottish Terriers. In the 19th century, he came to Germany, but remained rare in continental Europe.

Appearance

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a 25 cm high and weighing 10 kg dog with pepper or senffarbenem fur. The colors are referred to as pepper or mustard.

Use

The " handy " dog was suitable for rabbit hunting and is now a popular companion dog. He is regarded as a courageous and joyful working terrier.
