, Often called Dang Dang Deukhuri, is a district in the interior of the Terai in the Rapti Zone of Nepal, about 280 kilometers west of Kathmandu, and is bordered by India.

Geography

The district is dominated by two large, extending in an east-west direction and parallel valleys of the Mahabharat, the Dang and the Deukhuri. They are separated by the 800 - m- high ( ue NN ) gang- running mountain range of Dudhwas. The northerly and wider Dang Valley is located at about 600 m height (bed level), while the Deukhuri Valley is located at about 250 m. The latter is in turn separated by the gang- running, about 600 m high mountain range of the Siwalik from the outer Terai and Gangetic Plain.

Population

The dry and unproductive land of Dudhwaberge created in the past a buffer between the cultures of the Gangetic plain and the interior Terai. The Deukhuri Valley was how the entire Terai, malaria- infested until the late 1950s and is still only sparsely populated, mainly by the Tharu, who had developed a certain Resistence against malaria. The drier and higher lying Dang Valley was less affected by malaria and was therefore more attractive to settlers from the south, especially after malaria was largely replaced in the 1960s. The two towns of the districts, Ghorahi and Tulsipur are in the Dang Valley.
