Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park

The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park is a 2 -acre state park in Douglas County of the U.S. state of Nevada. It is located south of Carson City in Carson Valley and is accessible via the Nevada State Route 88. The Dangberg Ranch was one of the first and largest farms in Nevada.

The Dangberg Home Ranch was founded in 1857 by German immigrant Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg (Senior ). He built a simple hut and began to clear the land and to order. After his marriage, the house was enlarged accordingly to it to be able to raise five children. Dangberg itself became the successful farmer, businessman and politician, and at his death in 1904, the grounds of the farm consisted of 8100 ha

The family founded an enterprise in 1902, the Dangberg Land & Livestock Co. and expanded their property to more than 20,000 ha, which included sheep and cattle farms in Douglas County and neighboring Alpine County, California.

The town of Minden was founded in 1906 by the Dangbergs and set up jointly with other ranchers more agriculturally oriented business.

In 1991 Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park are opened several historic buildings that were built in 1857-1917, including the residence of the Dangbergs with 15 rooms. This is set up as a museum and the other farm buildings of the settlement history of the region is also shown in changing exhibitions.

In the State Park and the surrounding farm area a number of birds can be observed, including bald eagles, herons Canada, various hawks and owls, Canada geese, Canada cranes, ibises and wedge-tailed Plover. As part of the farm operation of the Park Land and Cattle Company also grazing cattle and calves can be seen.
