Daniel Aceves

Daniel Aceves Villagran ( born November 18, 1964 in Mexico City) is a former Mexican wrestler. He won a silver medal in Greco-Roman flyweight at the 1984 Olympic Games.

Career

Daniel Aceves comes from a Mexican wrestler family. His father Roberto Bonales worked under different artist names such as Blue Demon, Black Shadow and El Santo for many years in North American Wrestlers Wrestling. His brother Roberto was as participants in our tournament at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Daniel Aceves rank, what is remarkable with his father, who was freestyle wrestler, only in the Greco- Roman style. Already as a teenager he took in 1980 in Colorado Springs at the World Junior Championship ( Cadets = age group up to 16 years ) and won there in the paper weight ( up to 48 kg body weight) the junior world title before the later Olympic champion Vincenzo Maenza from Italy. He was also at the Junior World Championships 1980 Juniors ( age group up to age 18 ) in Stockholm at the start and reached there in the paper weight the 4th Place.

In the senior, he finished 1982 in Havana at the Central American & Caribbean Games in the flyweight ( 52 kg body weight ) after the Cuban Jorge Martinez a very good 2nd place. A medal he won at the Pan American Games 1983 in Caracas. Here he had to let flyweight only Edmundo Miranda from Cuba and Mark Fuller from the United States as a third party.

In the Central American & Caribbean Games, 1984 in Las Tunas he came behind the Cubans Angel Torres flyweight back to 2nd place. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles Daniel Aceves took advantage of the opportunity. He lost in his pool while his first fight against Erol Kemal from Turkey, but then defeated Gares, Ecuador, Hu Richa from China and Taisto Halonen of Finland. Since Kemal after his victory over Daniel Aceves lost his next two fights, was the winner in its pools and struggled against Atsuji Miyahara of Japan for the gold medal. This fight won with 9:3 Miyahara techn. Points. Daniel Aceves thus won the silver medal.

In 1985 Daniel Aceves in Tokyo still at an invitational tournament, the so-called World Superbike Championships and finished there behind the Japanese Isao Kawamoto 2nd place. Next international championships he subsequently denied no longer.
