Daniel Brottier

Daniel Brottier ( born September 7, 1876 in La Ferté -Saint -Cyr, France, † February 28, 1936 in Auteuil ) was a French Holy Ghost Fathers, and is a blessed of the Catholic Church.

Life

Daniel Brottier was born on September 7, 1876 in La Ferté -Saint -Cyr in the department of Loir -et- Cher. He studied theology at the seminary in Blois, and was ordained a priest in 1899. In 1902, he joined the Order of the Holy Ghost, who sent him in 1903 as a missionary in Senegal. In particular, he was involved in helping young people in Dakar. During his tenure, he fell ill, however, and had to return to his home country in 1911. This did not prevent him from further support from France by the charity he founded Souvenir Africain the mission in Senegal.

1923 commissioned his order Daniel Brottier with the management of the orphanage Orphelins Apprentis in Auteuil, a suburb of Paris. Until his death in 1936 he devoted himself to this task with empathy for the needs of young people, with pioneering educational reforms and organizational power. In Auteuil he died on 28 February 1936 at the age of 59 years.

On November 25, 1984 were beatified Daniel Brottier of John Paul II.
