Daniel Pennac
Daniel Pennac, actually Daniel Pennacchioni ( born December 1, 1944 in Casablanca, Morocco ) is a French writer.
Life
His childhood was spent Pennac in Africa and Asia. After studying literature in Nice worked and lived Pennac as a teacher in the Paris district of Belleville, where he resides today. In 1973 he published his first work, Le service militaire au service de qui? , A military critical book. To the military career of his father, who worked for the French army, but not to harm, he shortened his real name Pennachioni and wrote under the pseudonym Pennac.
In 1985, Au Bonheur des ogres (Paradise of the monsters ), the first detective novel about the professional notorious " scapegoat " and leisure Detective Benjamin Malaussène. Pennac also dealt with the art of novel writing: In 1992 he published with Comme un roman ( like a novel), another of his works, in which he reflected on the side of the reader and in ten points demands its rights. His comic Débauche (Eng. "down" ), which he co-authored with Jacques Tardi, treats the topic of unemployment. With the Prix Renaudot Pennac in 2007 received one of the major French literary prizes.
In the presidential election of 2002 he was in the shadow cabinet of the humorist Dieudonné.
Style
In the late 1980s Pennac established itself in the French contemporary bestseller lists and won several literary awards. Pennac was described by Sabine Janssen as a new narrative talent and as an author with a bright future. The literary talent Pennacs is attributed to an interesting notation as well as numerous literary affinities to renowned authors.
Pennacs works stride usually at a rapid narrative pace ahead, are designed quite complex and seem on first reading mostly quite confused: Several storylines in which various people and characters are involved, are taking place in parallel and provide the reader with countless topics. Although such a variety of topics is virtually ubiquitous, the reader can untangle them yet, since the highly schematic genre that generally occurs in Pennacs works extremely unifying effect and thus holds the narrative and drives forward. Furthermore, it is understood Pennac to reflect in many ways language and literature in his novels: On concrete linguistic level it creates intertextual references between the forensic literary concept, for example, and the resulting representations of the characters.
