Daniel Zítka

Daniel Zítka ( born June 20, 1975 in Havířov ) is a former Czech football player at the position of goalkeeper. He finished his career in 2012.

Playing career

Zítka debuted in the Czech first league on the second matchday of the 1994/95 season for Viktoria Zizkov, in the rest of the season he was not, however, be used. He then moved to FC Alfa Slušovice in the second league. There he made only a game and went to FK Banik Havířov, his former youth club. In ten inserts Zítka also shot a goal. He moved to FC Zlín, where he was able to establish itself as number one. In the current 1997/98 season, he joined the Slovak first division club FC 1 Tatran Prešov where he was also a regular keeper.

In November 1999, he undertook the Belgian club KSC Lokeren, who already had experience with Czech players. Zítka was the first choice in Lokeren and convinced by his good services to the top Belgian club RSC Anderlecht, with whom he signed in the summer of 2002 a contract until 2006.

In the first two years in Brussels Zítka still played frequently, lost his place but after a failure in September 2004 at the Champions League game against Valencia. In the season 2005/ 06 he came, also due to injury, only seven missions. His contract was nevertheless extended until 2008. In the 2006/07 season he showed outstanding performance and was elected to the Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year.

During the 2008/ 09 season Zítka broke his leg and fell through this injury over a long time period. After his recovery in the season 2009/10 the Czech replacement nurmehr remained behind Silvio Proto and Davy floes. In June 2010 Zítka sparked zeins on until June 2011 valid contract with Anderlecht and returned to his homeland where he joined Sparta Prague. There he came only rarely to the course and finished in 2012 his active career.

National

Daniel Zítka graduated in 1994 and 1996 respectively a friendly game of the Czech Under-21 national team. His debut in the senior team, he celebrated on 21 November 2007 in the qualifying match for Euro 2008 against Cyprus, where he stayed clean sheets. In the final round of this tournament he was the third-choice goalkeeper in the squad of the Czech team. In the same year, he completed two World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and San Marino. With these he conceded no goals. Since then, he is no longer included in the national team.
