The small spa resort Dankerode is a district of the city Harzgerode in the district of Harz.

Geography

Dankerode located in the Lower Harz at an altitude of 420 m above sea level. South of the town flows the Marktal in the Wipper. Dankerode can be reached from the main road about 242 Königerode or from the direction of Neudorf. On this, the regional bus line runs 34 of the Harz transport companies and connects the village with Harzgerode. After all directions Dankerode is surrounded by meadows and forests.

History

Dankerode was first mentioned on January 6, 992 as Thensciararod.

On August 1, 2009, the congregation joined with the cities Dankerode Guentersberge and Harzgerode and the communities Königerode, Schielo, Siptenfelde and Strassberg the new city Harzgerode together.

Tourism
