Dansk biografisk leksikon

The Dansk biografisk leksikon ( DBL), spelling the title of the first edition of Dansk biografisk lexicon, is Denmark's biographical dictionary and has so far been published in three editions. The first edition with the full title " Dansk biografisk lexicon, tillige omfattende Norge for tidsrummet 1537-1814 " ("... including Norway for the period 1537-1814 " ) was published in 19 volumes from 1887 to 1905 under the historian Carl Frederik bricka as editor. It is because of their age in the public domain and accessible through the Project Runeberg online in full text.

The second edition was published in 1933-1934 in 27 volumes, the third from 1979 to 1984 in 16 volumes. In the third edition of some of the biographies from previous editions have been revised and updated. Also in this edition accounted for many biographies of the previous editions, as they were no longer held by the editors for relevance. In this respect, in these cases the previous editions still of importance.
