Danubius Hotels Group

The Danubius Hotels Group is a Hungarian company based in Budapest. The Group of companies includes 46 health, wellness hotels and city hotels in Hungary, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania with a total of a number of 7780 rooms. The Danubius Hotels employ 4313 employees.

History

Danubius Hotels was founded in April 1972 by the then Domestic Trade Ministry to make the Hungarian health tourism and develop. The state-owned company started its operations with the Grand Hotel Margit Sziget and the Hotel Helikon in Keszthely, as well as with planning permission of Hilton Budapest. On 31 July 1991, the Group was privatized and converted into a public limited company and introduced the shares on the Budapest Stock Exchange in December 1992. In 1996, the company has ( HungarHotels ) successfully applied for the real estate brokerage service for 85 % ownership share of Hungaria Rt Szálloda, whose share was increased in 2004 to 100%.

In November 1999, the expansion began in the rest of Europe with the purchase of the company Hotel Villa Butterfly ( Marianske Lazne, Czech Republic), and a year later with the share purchase of 65 % of the Léčebné Lázně as (Marienbad, Czech Republic). This went 31 properties, 4 spas and 40 thermal springs on the property of Danubius. With the purchase of a company's share of 67 % of the Slovenske liečebné Kupele as expanded Danubius 2002 in Slovakia. In the summer of 2004 Danubius co-owner of LL Partners, belong to the well-known restaurants and hotels. These shares were increased until today to two-thirds of the total vote.

Currently (Jan 2012) estimated the value of Danubius Hotels to 312 million euros.
