Dappermarkt

The Dapper in Amsterdam Oost ( North Holland ) is next to the Albert Cuyp market is one of the largest and most visited daily markets in Amsterdam.

History

The name was given to the market by the Dutch historian Olfert Dappert (1636-1689), who in the 17th century, a five-part description of Amsterdam published ( "Historical Descripción the city of Amsterdam "). 1910 " Dapperstraat " ( Dapperstraße ) was at the same time with the Albert Cuyp Straat, the Ten Katestraat ( with today's Ten Kate market ) and the Lindegracht of the municipality Amsterdam is officially designated as a shopping street ( " ventstraat " ) instructed. The first homes in the " Dapperbuurt " ( Dapperviertel ) formed at the beginning of the 20th century for civil servants, self-employed and workers with higher incomes.

The Dapper international product range is about 600 meters long, with around 250 stalls and multicultural character, open from Monday to Saturday. In 2006 and 2007 the market received the award for "Best market in the Netherlands ".

The International Guide National Geographic stood in the November / December 2007 issue of the Dapper in eighth place in the "Top 10 " of the international shopping streets. Around the Dappermarktes are forming the " shopping center Dapperviertel " ( koopcentrum Dapperbuurt ) more than 120 different shops.

Culture

In the Eerste van Swindenstraat ( Dapperbuurt ) is located in a former school building a multicultural meeting place with cheaper Dining at Café - Restaurant "De Ponteneur ". In addition, a primary school, children's playgrounds, the Reinwardtacademie that Muiderkerk ( Muiderkirche ) and the Muiderpoorttheater and a " Cultureel Centrum " ( Cultural Center ) and very close to the Oosterpark.
