Darrow Hooper

Darrow Hooper ( Clarence Darrow Hooper, born January 30, 1932 in Fort Worth ) is a former American shot putter.

Hooper attended the Texas A & M University in College Station and 1951 NCAA champion in the shot put.

In 1952 he won with his personal best of 17.41 meters at the U.S. eliminator for the Olympic Games in Helsinki, where he won the silver medal. With its length of 17.39 m, it was only about two inches behind his compatriot Parry O'Brien. Jim Fox ( 17.06 m ) completed the U.S. triple triumph.
