Action

The King of Portugal is unable to rule his country. This work concerned the Duke Villalobos. But he is unpopular with his subjects. When the poet Cervantes ridiculed the Duke in a song, he is arrested. But the king shall order his release and send him to his wife, so he reads her something from his works. Here, the queen fell in love with the poet and leaves him a lace shawl. Then she wrote: "The Queen loves you, but you 're not king. " - As Cervantes reads this, he believes, so would the Queen allow her husband to send a message. He is looking at the king and advises him to keep an eye on its head of government.

Duke Villalobos shows how Cervantes the lace handkerchief fall from the pocket. He picks it up and gives it to the king. From the written words of his wife, he pulls the (wrong) conclusion that she had an affair with the poet. It prohibits Cervantes, to dwell longer at his court. He banished the queen in a monastery.

Near the monastery Cervantes operates an inn. When he hears what has happened, he wants to merge the royal couple again. Disguised as a robber he kidnapped with his cronies the queen and bring them to his home. There does on the same day the king rest. In the clothes of an operator his wife served his favorite food, what he recognizes. Cervantes served the monarch on a story that can make him conciliatory. Happy versa, the royal couple back to his court.
