Daur Akhvlediani

Daur Akhvlediani (Russian Даур Ахвледиани; born October 10, 1964 in Gagra, Sukhumi † 1993 ) was a Soviet- Abkhazian football players.

Daur Akhvlediani was born in Gagra and in 1983 committed by the former Soviet Torpedo Kutaisi first division. However Torpedo dismounted in the season, Achwedliani hired then to the third division Dinamo Sukhumi. There he became a regular player and played more than 200 games. In 1991 he moved, due to the uncertain political situation in Abkhazia, finally, in the then newly-founded Russian league and was engaged by Uralan Elista.

In 1993 he went back to Abkhazia and joined the local independence fighters on. In the battles with the Georgian armed forces to Sukhumi Akhvlediani was killed. Posthumously eventually he was awarded the title "Hero of Abkhazia ". The stadium of the Abkhaz Association FK Gagra in his home town is now named after him.
