Dave Alvin

Dave Alvin ( born November 11, 1955 in Downey, California) is an American country and folk musicians.

Life

In 1979, Dave and his brother Phil and some other musicians in Los Angeles, the band Blasters. After seven years he left the group to start a country music - oriented solo career. But his first album Romeo 's Escape sold poorly, and Alvin lost his recording contract.

As a songwriter, he was initially successful. Dwight Yoakam had a hit with a title written by him. Dave Alvin was thus able to finance a 1991 second album Blue Blvd, on which his idol, the saxophonist Lee Allen is heard. This time he was recognized both by critics and audiences.

In his subsequent productions, the electric guitar became increasingly in favor of the acoustic in the background. In 2000 he played with Public Domain a an album of traditional folk songs, for which he received the Grammy of " Best Contemporary Folk Album " in the following year.

In 2011, Alvin was involved in the music documentary Troubadour Blues.
