Dave Kleis

Dave Kleis ( born January 21, 1964) is an American politician. He was in the Senate from Minnesota, and since 2005 has been mayor of the 60,000 -inhabitant city of St. Cloud. Kleis is a member of the Republican Party.

Life

After completion of the Litchfield High School Dave Kleis studied political science and history at St. Cloud State University. In 1989 he graduated from the University magna cum laude. He then served active in the United States Air Force and later was a reservist. In 1991, Dave Kleis opened a driving school.

The chance of a higher political office received Kleist end of 1994. Sen. Joanne Benson was running mate of Governor Arne Carlson and was named after his re-election Deputy Governor of Minnesota. The elections for the Senate seat now free of the Republican Benson won their party colleague Dave Kleis. Enough for him 42.45 % of the votes to prevail against several opponents. His fiercest competitor Joe Opatz of the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party of Minnesota was 37.94 %.
