Dave Thompson (Scottish politician)

David Thompson ( born September 20, 1949) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Thompson attended the Lossiemouth High School and received an education in meteorology at the Department of Trade. He also earned a diploma in consumer protection and a Higher National Certificate for Gaelic language.

For the first time Thompson took up to national elections in the parliamentary elections of 2003. He stood as a candidate in the constituency of Ross, Skye and Inverness West, but could not prevail against the Liberal Democrat John Farquhar Munro himself. In the 2007 parliamentary elections, he could not win the direct mandate of Ross, Skye and Inverness West again, but moved as a result of the election result as one of seven candidates for the regional election list for the election Highlands and Islands in the Scottish parliament. As part of the constituency reform of 2011, the constituency Ross, Skye and Inverness West was disbanded and most of them included in the new constituency of Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, for the Thompson took in the parliamentary elections of 2011. He won the direct mandate of the newly created constituency.
