Dave Trottier

David Thomas Trottier ( born June 25, 1906 in Pembroke, Ontario, † November 13, 1956 in Halifax, Nova Scotia ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his playing days in 1923 to 1939 among others for the Montreal Maroons and Detroit Red Wings the National Hockey League has played. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Dave Trottier began his career as a hockey player with the St. Michael's Majors, which until 1925 he was active from 1923 in the Junior League of the Ontario Hockey Association. Subsequently, the winger played three years for the Toronto Varsity level, with whom he 1927 Allan Cup, the Canadian Amateur Championship title won. On April 8, 1928, he signed a contract as a free agent with the Montreal Maroons, for a total of ten years he played in the National Hockey League. In the 1934/35 season he won with the Maroons the prestigious Stanley Cup. In 1937 he also took part in the Howie Morenz Memorial Game. For the season 1938/39, the Canadians were sold within the NHL to the Detroit Red Wings, for which he, however, only eleven games played, where he spent the rest of the season with the Pittsburgh Hornets in the International - American Hockey League. Then he ended his career as a professional hockey player and worked for an oil company. In November 1956, he died at the age of only 50 years.

Internationally

For Canada Trottier took part in the Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz, where he won the gold medal with his team.
