David Bedford

David Vickerman Bedford (* August 4, 1937 in London, England; † 1 October 2011) was a British composer and musician.

Life

David Bedford, born in London in 1937, played and composed classical and popular music. Bedford studied music in London and Venice. Through collaboration with musician Kevin Ayers, he met Mike Oldfield. For Oldfield, he directed the recording of his album The Orchestral Tubular Bells. Also Oldfield worked in the 1970s on some of his albums.

Bedford was the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts connected as a saint.

On October 1, 2011, he died at the age of 74 from lung cancer.
