David Carnegie, 14th Earl of Northesk

David John MacRae Carnegie, 14th Earl of Northesk ( born November 3, 1954 † 28 March 2010) was a British peer.

Life and career

Carnegie was the son of Robert Carnegie, 13th Earl of Northesk, and Jean Margaret MacRae. In 1979, he married Jacqueline Dundas Reid and had four children with her:

  • Alexander Macrae Robert Carnegie, Lord Rosehill ( born November 16, 1980, † 31 August 2001)
  • The Lady Sarah Louise Mary Carnegie (born 29 October 1982)
  • The Lady Fiona Jean Elizabeth Carnegie (born 24 March 1987)
  • The Lady Sophie Jean Margaret Carnegie (born 9 January 1990)

He was one of 92 peers with inherited titles ( Hereditary Peer ), who were elected after the reform of the House of Lords in 1999, and therefore could then keep his upper house seat. Carnegie was a member of the Conservative Party. In 2001, his son Alexander committed suicide.
