David Cass

David Cass ( born January 19, 1937 in Honolulu, † April 15, 2008 in Philadelphia ) was an American economist.

Life

Cass received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1965 and was a professor at Yale University and Carnegie Mellon University. Since 1974 he has taught at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Cass has done research in the field of general equilibrium theory. His most important contributions examined, among other individual behavior under uncertainty and financial market equilibria. The Ramsey -Cass - Koopmans model is named, among others, according to David Cass (see growth theory).

David Cass was a Fellow of the Econometric Society, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association.

Cass was married and the father of two children. He lived in Philadelphia.
