David F. Dodge

David Francis Dodge ( born August 18, 1910 in Berkeley, California, † August 1, 1974 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico ) was an American author, primarily of crime novels and humorous travel reports. He devised the tax experts and Detective James " Whit " Whitney and the private investigator Al Colby. Most of his works were translated into German, especially during the 1950s. He is best known for the novel by Alfred Hitchcock film To Catch a Nice day.
