David Gunn (composer)

David Ross Gunn is an American composer and humorist.

Gunn began his musical training in piano and percussion at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and studied composition at Ohio State University. In 1992 he received the first of a dozen commissions for compositions of the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble ("A song, a dance and a Spizder ), which began in 1997-98 a CD with sixteen compositions Gunns under the title Somewhere East of Topeka.

He received further commissions, inter alia, from the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, the Vermont Youth Orchestra, the group Essential Music, the Montpelier Chamber Orchestra and the social band. For the performances in Ray Bradbury 's Pandemonium Theatre Company, he composed several theater music. More than ten years he was opposite Dennis Bathory - Kitsz co-director of the radio show Kalvos & Damian 's New Music Bazaar, which was in 2000 awarded the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP.

In addition, Gunn is known as the author of more than four hundred essays and radio humorist. His often ironically fragmented, often parodic compositions he provides regularly with humorous comments. By his own admission he lives simultaneously in Barre / Vermont and hope to ( in this order) on earth peace, good will among men and a bunch of money in the bank.
