David Healy (astronomer)

David Bennett Healy ( born December 22, 1936 in Los Angeles, † June 6 2011 in Sierra Vista) was an American amateur astronomer and astrophotographer. He discovered in the period from 1999 to 2008 a total of 154 asteroids, three of them together with his colleague Jeffrey S. Medkeff. He made his discoveries as a pensioner on which he founded Junk Bond Observatory in the Sonoran Desert in the U.S. state of Arizona.

The on 4 September 1999 discovered by Myke Collins and Minor White asteroid ( 66479 ) Healy was named after him.
