David Hicks (ski jumper)

David Anthony " Dave" Hicks (* December 15, 1945 in Duluth, Minnesota ) is an American former ski jumper.

Career

His international debut Hicks at the Four Hills Tournament 1963/64. After it but none of the jumping landed in the top 30 and in Garmisch -Partenkirchen completely exposed, he won only 33rd in the overall standings. Although he had already attended high school at that time, he started as a member of the U.S. team at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck. After Hicks landed in jumping on the normal hill on rank 41, he took on the large hill together with Swedish Kurt Elimä the 29th place.

In the following December the Four Hills Tournament 1964/65 Hicks achieved a significant increase in performance, even though he only took the opening event. However, he could jump on the Schattenbergschanze surprising to third place behind Torgeir Brandtzæg and Peter Kovalenko. Although he then took no further part in the Tournament, he thus secured 19th place overall.

At the U.S. Championships in 1965, he won gold in the individual competition. A short time later, he was 11 at the Holmenkollen Holmenkollen Ski Festival.

His most successful by Rating tour, he played with the Four Hills Tournament 1965/66. After a streaky jump in Oberstdorf, he reached with the squares 11 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen and Innsbruck nine in a leap back into the world top. After rank 27, he achieved a solid performance in midfield and in Bischofshofen, he ended the tour in 13th place overall.

Hicks began after his active career with studies at the University of Minnesota in his hometown of Duluth.
