David Kennedy (musician)

David James Kennedy ( born July 8, 1976 in Seattle ) is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter.

Life

He grew up in Seattle in relatively poor conditions, which brought him early to rebel against the higher social standing company. In his school days he was often teased because of his run-down clothes. Out of anger about the then 14- year-old David wrote a diss song against the golf and rowing club of his school, which he presented together with two school friends on a school festival. The result was the immediate expulsion from the school. But soon another school in Poway took him. His parents had been forced to move to California because his father had lost his job in the mining industry and there were better prospects for the skilled construction workers there.

There he met Tom DeLonge know, who also went to his level. The two hit it off right away and became best friends. However, they have always had divided opinions on what genres were concerned. Both had a good sense of music and so they finally united but their two styles. A music teacher, who recognized the talent of the two boys immediately promoted the two. He motivated them to play in the contest and gave them always backing. But soon began to Tom DeLonge to work together with Mark Hoppus on Blink-182. There he felt his musical ideas better understood and accommodated.

Only in the year 2002, the friends met at the Box Car Racer project again. David was playing in Over My Dead Body, but immediately agreed when his friend Tom DeLonge started this side project of Blink -182. For this project, the blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and bassist Anthony Celestino were consulted. 2003, however, the project fell apart again, Delonge took another album with blink- 182. David Kennedy joined the hardcore punk band Hazen Street, which after a tour in the summer of 2004 along with POD became very popular in the United States. After the band Blink-182 took a break in 2005, Tom DeLonge turned back to David Kennedy. With him, he formed the group Angels & Airwaves, where also nuclear Willard, the drummer of The Offspring, and Matthew Wachter play on bass. In May 2006, the first records were released, the group is currently working on a film.
