David Myers (politician)

David F. Myers ( born July 18, 1938 in Ponca City, Oklahoma; † November 11, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ) was an American politician of the Republican Party.

Life

After schooling Myers studied chemical engineering at Oklahoma State University and then worked as a chemical engineer and as an advisor to ConocoPhillips in his hometown.

After his retirement, he began his political career when he was elected as a candidate of the Republican Party as a member of the Senate of Oklahoma in 2002 and was confirmed in both 2006 and 2010 unopposed, so his third and final term in 2014 would be expired. Most recently, he was chairman of the influential Committee on budget ( Senate Appropriations Committee) and therefore decisive for the budget discussions between the Senate, House of Representatives and the Governors of Oklahoma. In addition, he spent several years as manager of the baseball team of the Senate, which took a year in a charity match against the team of the House of Representatives.

Myers, who died as a result of pneumonia and suffered from diabetes mellitus, was after his death by the Senate President pro tempore, Brian Bingman, as well as Kris Steele, Speaker of the House, appreciated.
