David Peel (actor)

David Peel, ( born June 19, 1920 in London, United Kingdom, † September 4, 1981 ) was a British actor. His most popular role was that of master vampire Baron My Rochester in The Brides of Dracula (1960 ) on the side of Peter Cushing.

Life and career

David Peel studied acting at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and starred in several stage productions before he increasingly appeared in film and television from the 1940s.

In 1960 he played the role of the cruel vampire Baron Meinster in Hammer's The Brides of Dracula on the side of Peter Cushing. With this film, Peel should be remembered as the first blond vampire in the ( horror ) film history. However, although Peel's career was in the upswing, he decided to give up acting. One of his last performances was a minor role in the sinister hands of Dr. Orlak with Christopher Lee, a remake of the horror classic Orlac 's hands.

After he had withdrawn gradually from the film business, worked as a real estate broker Peel and antique dealers. David Peel died on 4 September 1981 at the age of sixty-one years in London.
