David René de Rothschild

David René James de Rothschild ( * December 15, 1942 in New York City ) is a French banker and member of the Rothschild family. He is chairman of Rothschilds Continuation Holdings and the bank NM Rothschild & Sons, London, and the World Jewish Congress.

Life

David de Rothschild is the son of Guy de Rothschild and his first wife Baroness Alix Hermine Jeannette Schey de Koromla. He was born in the U.S., after his parents had fled from the Nazis. After the liberation of France, the family went back to their homes. David René James de Rothschild is a descendant of James de Rothschild, the founder of the French branch, which was active in the business of the Bank since 1812, the year in which his father Mayer Amschel Rothschild, founder of the Bank, in Frankfurt, died.

Rothschild studied at the Institut d' études politiques de Paris. He worked after graduating from 1966 for the family-owned Société MINIÈRE et métallurgique de Peñarroya and then moved to the Rothschild Bank. 1977 - 1995 he was mayor of the municipality of Pont -l'Évêque in Normandy.

After the bank was nationalized in 1981 by the French Government François Mitterrand, Rothschild remained for some years before 1986, the investment bank Rothschild & Cie founded. When David René de Rothschild in 2003 took over the presidency of NM Rothschild & Sons, the British and the French branch of the family their companies united under his chairmanship. Sold in 2007, the English branch of the Rothschild family all shares of the company group Rothschild to the French branch. Since 2008, Rothschild is Chairman of NM Rothschild & Sons, chairman of Rothschilds Continuation Holdings, Vice Chairman of Rothschild Bank AG, Deputy Chairman of Supervisory Board of Paris Orléans, co-owner of the bank Rothschild & Cie, a member there Supervisory Board of Compagnie Financiere Saint- Honore, the Compagnie Financiere Martin Maurel, the De Beers Group and Groupe Casino.

He was awarded in Frankfurt " 2011 European Banker of the Year " award.

David René de Rothschild owns part of the Château Lafite- Rothschild.

Personal

Since 1974, David de Rothschild is married Olimpia Aldobrandini Anna. The couple has two daughters own, a son and an adopted daughter. The family lives at Château Reux in Normandy.
