David Rowbotham

David Rowbotham ( born August 27, 1924 in Toowoomba, Queensland, † October 6, 2010 in Brisbane ) is an Australian poet, whose long career is remarkable for its scope and power.

Rowbotham served in World War II at the front in the Pacific. He attended the University of Queensland and worked for many years as a journalist. Since he was a friend and mentor to many other Australian writer, he maintained extensive international contacts and regularly traveled to the United States. Although formally lyrical, to Rowbothams poems often employ with the story. After the publisher Penguin in 1994 his Selected Poems, covering a period of 50 years, published, he began a surprisingly late productive period which culminated in the publication of the much-praised Poems for America 2002. 2005 Pfcaro Press was in the Wagtail range a popular book with the title The Brown Iceland.
