David Samanez Ocampo

David Samanez Ocampo y Sobrino (* 1866 in Huambo province Andahuaylas, † July 13, 1947 in Lima), Peruvian businessman and politician who held office from 11 March to 8 December 1931 as president of his country.

Samanez was the son of a landowner. He distinguished himself as an opponent of the dictatorial ruling President Augusto B. Leguía and tried in 1910 as a young parliamentarians to gain control of the city of Cusco in a rebellion.

After the deposition Leguías 1930 alternated in quick succession several presidents from without that the unrest in the country ended. Samanez had acquired in the interim national reputation and was regarded as an integer; on 11 March 1931, he took over the presidency from the located only six days in office Gustavo Jiménez.
