David Winnie

Peter David Winnie ( born October 26, 1966) is a former Scottish football player and coach.

Sports career

Winnie debuted in the early 1980s for FC St. Mirren in the adult area. He established himself as a regular force in defense of the club, with whom he reached the 1987 final of the national cup. On the side of Neil Cooper, Paul Lambert, Frank McGarvey and Tommy Wilson he was in the starting lineup, as Dundee United was defeated by a goal from Ian Ferguson with a 1-0 final success. When the club relegated from the first division in 1991, he moved within the country to FC Aberdeen. He drew attention to himself outside the league, so in December 1993 he moved on loan to FC Middlesbrough. However, in England, he could not convince and returned in early 1994 back to Aberdeen.

After expiration of his contract in 1995 was followed for Winnie the shortest possible time different stations. He initially served one season at Heart of Midlothian under contract, before returning via the Dundee FC 1997 to FC St. Mirren. In the summer of 1998 he left the country again and KR Reykjavík joined in Iceland. After being crowned at the end of the year Iceland's footballer of the year, he spent the winter break will start in October on loan at Ayr United in Scotland. Winnie the end of 2000 ended his playing career in Iceland and joined as an assistant coach at KR Reykjavík to the dugout. In 2001 he took over as interim head coach of the items. In the summer of 2002 he took over as coach of the Scottish second division side FC Dumbarton. When he was with the team in the relegation battle, the club replaced him with Brian Fairley.

Winnie studied law and is now qualified as a solicitor. He specializes in sports law.
