Dean Gallery

The Dean Gallery is an art gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland, and part of the National Galleries of Scotland. It was opened in 1999, directly opposite the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, the sister gallery of the Dean Gallery.

2011, the building was renamed in Modern Art One and accordingly Modern Art Two. The building of the Dean Gallery was originally designed by the architect Thomas Hamilton as an orphanage.

The subsequent conversion of the house into a gallery was conceived by Terry Farrell. Since its opening, the Dean Gallery shows the Paolozzi gift. Sir Eduardo Paolozzi in 1994 donated a selection of his collection of the Gallery of Modern Art

It includes a wide range of Dadaist and Surrealist art and literature, with some works of the photographer Gabrielle Keiller. The Dean Gallery frequently shows temporary exhibitions.

A selection of exhibits are also available online.
