Dear John is a novel by Nicholas Sparks, which was published in 2006 in the U.S. under the title Dear John.
Content Description
In the novel, it involves both the love relationship between the student and the soldier John Tyree Savannah, on the other hand, to the relationship with his father John.
The story begins with John Tyree's childhood in Wilmington, North Carolina. His father, who suffers from Asperger 's syndrome, and other than his coin collection harbors no great passions, it alone attracts large. This coin collection is also the only thing that connects father and son. While this hobby was originally made by John, but it is John's father, who is increasingly becoming a veritable obsession. As John also always been interested less, father and son finally remove even with this last commonality of each other. John rebelled to gain attention from his father. His life is a total disoriented until he decides to join the U.S. Army.
On a home visit to his father, he learns the student Savannah know. Also, it is only in their vacation in Wilmington, to engage socially. John is impressed with Savannah's commitment, and it comes quickly to a rapprochement between the two. Savannah is doing a good fast access to John's father, because she knows how to deal with autistic people: Alan, who is the brother of her good friend Tim is how John's father gifted autistic. John is surprised at how light-hearted and understanding it deals with his father.
Soon Savannah has to return to college, but the young relationship should not get lost. John promises Savannah that in 12 months his term ends at the Army and he wanted to build a common future with her. But first, John must again return to the army. From its locations around the world, he writes with Savannah now on several covers.
The service end comes the attack on the World Trade Center between since John is committed, with his comrades to extend the service. When John tells Savannah this decision at a weekend in the home, she is only angry, then sad, but ultimately agrees to a wait for him.
John is sent to Afghanistan. There he soon waiting eagerly for letters from Savannah, who no longer attend. After two months, he then receives a final letter from her in which she writes him that she was going to marry another man. John is injured, destroyed all the collected letters and focuses on its use as a soldier. Even after he is shot during a mission, it will remain in the army.
When he gets the bad news that his father had suffered a stroke, he returns for the first time back in the United States. At the bedside of his father, there is a debate between the two, just before his father died then. Lonely and alone mourns John, but then makes the search for Savannah and finds them on her parents' farm. She had opened a riding school for the therapy of autistic children there - a wish she already told John in her early letters - but failed it. So all her attention is her husband - Tim, John soon learns -, lymphoma is terminally and is powered hospitalized. When they then visit Tim in the hospital, tells this John that Savannah still loves him. Back on the farm talk John and Savannah, speak out, and it is clear that both wanted to still have the possibility of a common future.
But as John breaks up and sold on his return to the use of even the coin collection of his father. The money he sends Savannah to pay for the expensive medication and home care for Tim.
