Death of Lisa McPherson

Lisa McPherson ( born February 10, 1959 in the U.S.; † 5 December 1995) was a member of Scientology. It is while, a branch of the Scientology organization was in the care of the Flag Service Organization ( FSO ), starved and died of thirst. Due to the circumstances of his death the Scientology organization was indicted for failing to help and exercise of the medical profession without certification.

The criminal case against the local Scientology department was set on 12 June 2000, the official cause of death was changed on 13 June 2000 by "undetermined" in "accident."

A civil proceeding initiated by McPherson's family, was completed on 28 May 2004 with a confidential settlement.

Scientology has consequently introduced a contractual clause, must sign the members during shooting and Scientology is exempt from any responsibility for such cases.

Background

On November 18, 1995 Lisa McPherson was involved in a minor car accident. She was not injured, but was confused and tore the clothes from her body. She was admitted to a hospital and should be moved from there to study in a psychiatric hospital. However, this was prevented by the arrival of two Scientology members, apportion McPherson as a Scientologist and claimed that they would as such has nothing to do with psychiatry, but only " rest and relaxation " need.

Little is known about the other events in the period between 18 November 1995 and 5 December 1995. It is clear that McPherson was taken to a house by the Scientology organization and got given there for days not drinking water. The forensic investigation has a arisen due to the severe loss of water and the bed rest blood clot is considered as cause of death.

On 5 December 1995, located in a poor state funeral of Lisa McPherson by Scientology members to New Port Richey Hospital in the north of Clearwater, Florida, was launched.
