The Zehnarmigen squid ( Decabrachia, also Decembrachiata or Decapodiformes ) the majority of extant cephalopods heard ( Cephalopoda ).

They are characterized by the possession of ten arms, of which the fourth pair of arms is counted from the head transformed into tentacles. The suction cups are stalked, in contrast to the wide arm ansitz end suction cups of the octopus, and the functioning of the suction cups is different in the two groups. The suction cups of squid Zehnarmigen are reinforced around the edges with horn rings, in each group, these horny sucker rings can be further transformed into hooks.

System

The Zehnarmigen squid ( Decabrachia, Decapodiformes ) form the sister group of the eight-armed squid ( Vampyropoda ) in which the Octobrachia and the vampire squid -like ( Vampyromorpha ) are summarized. The breakdown of Zehnarmigen squid is not yet stable. While some authors to four orders (and more ) are different, others recognize only two orders.
