Decibel (magazine)

Decibel is the title of an October 2004 American -monthly music magazine. The focus is on topics related to Extreme Metal and Grindcore. Editor in chief is Albert Mudrian, author of Choosing Death: The incredible story of Death Metal & Grindcore.

History

Albert Mudrian, editor of Red Flag Media, Philadelphia, wrote the book Choosing Death: The incredible story of Death Metal & Grindcore an acclaimed historical overview about the music genre Death Metal and Grindcore. The commercial success of the book prompted Alex Mulcahy, owner of Red Flag Media, to found the first nationally published in the U.S. Journal of extreme metal; Decibel first appeared in October 2004. Mudrian has since been editor in chief of the magazine.

Since the first edition of the magazine includes a section Hall of Fame, will be presented in the background on music albums, which include, in the opinion of the editors of the milestones of extreme metal. From this section the book Precious Metal was: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces compiled, published by Da Capo Press, 2009. Since January 2011, the journal is the output for the subscribers in a flexi disc that contains exclusive material such as cover versions, demo recordings and unreleased songs by artists and groups, by which the decibel had been reported. These singles are also available for in selected record stores, as well as in the online shop of the magazine. Have been published in this series, among other publications of Enslaved, Napalm Death and The Black Dahlia Murder.
