Delbáeth

Delbaeth, also Delbáeth or Dealbhaeth is a Celtic deity and legendary figure from the Lebor Gabála Érenn ( "The Book of acquisitions of land in Ireland " ) Celtic mythology of Ireland. The name is interpreted as " unfinished form." Delbaeth ( "The Book of Leinster " ) is mentioned in Lebor Laignech.

Mythology

Delbaeth is either the son of Neith of the Fomorians, Aengus or Ogma from the people of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His mother is Ethniu also a Fomoir. He is supposed to be his grandfather Eochaid Ollathair, so the Dagda, succeeded as High King of Ireland. Delbaeth ruled for ten years, then he is murdered by his son Fiacha. With his wife Ernmas he also has daughters Ériu, Banba and Fohla. Also Elatha and Boann be mentioned as his children.

In one version of the Lebor Gabála Érenn Delbáeth is called with the nickname Tuirill Biccreo or Tuirill Picreo as the father of Brian, Iuchar and Iucharba. Thus, an equation would be given with Tuirenn, which is also called as the father Boanns.

A Delbáeth Mac Neit is mentioned in this release as Tuirill Biccreo 's great-grandfather.
