Delhi School of Economics

The Delhi School of Economics (also known as DSE or D School) is a department of the University of Delhi for further research and teaching in the field of economics, sociology and geography in Delhi, India. It was founded with the support of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1949. She is currently under the direction of Prof. Santosh C. panda.

History

The Delhi School of Economics was founded to support the management and policy development in the newly independent India and other countries. The range of topics was soon expanded and covered, inter alia, from different areas of business administration. In 1959 the Departments of Geography and Sociology were also founded. In 1967 the management theory was based in a separate department, also created a Department of Commerce, which has been converted into a separate faculty in 1993.

Institutional building

The DSE consists of the departments of Economics, Geography and Sociology, belonging to the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Delhi. The Department of Trade part of the Department of Trade and Industry.
