Deliverance (rock band)
Deliverance was a German - Canadian band of Christian pop and rock music of the 1970s.
History
The band Deliverance mid-70s formed around the cousins Danny, Ken and Paul Janz in Lörrach. In Alberta, Canada, who was born she came with her parents, the founders of the Janz Team, 1954 to Germany. They grew up in Basel, Switzerland, and Germany and visited the international Christian boarding Black Forest Academy. The band was born from the merger of the group Danny & Paul, later with Wayne Quiring: Danny, Paul & Wayne, with the Janz Team Singers and new members. Thus, the first singles Janz Team Singers and Danny & Paul also appeared, making note of both names.
In 1976 they released their debut album, To God Be The Glory of Christian pop and rock music. 1977 was followed by the album Give It A Try. The band got more and more criticism from the Christian music scene but also concerns on the part of Janz Team, their musical home, because of their blending of sacred and secular music as well as joint appearances with hard rock bands like Scorpions. For this reason, the third album Lasting Impressions In 1977, the secular label WEA Warner Music. The last album Tightrope was released in 1979 at Global Records. This made it the song Leaving LA in the U.S. at number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100
In 1978, the Janz Team the creator Produced by The King is coming. Because of the conflict that the name Deliverance triggered in the Christian audience, the band is not named as such, but the members under the subtitle Young men praise God listed individually.
1979 had the band in addition to, among others, Inge Brück and Botho -Lucas - choir in the recordings of John oratorio by Siegfried Fietz.
After the group had to give up the name Deliverance According to court order, she took the name Janz at the German preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest 1981 with the song rocks part. A short time later Paul Janz moved back to Canada and the band broke up.
