Delphic Games of the modern era - they combine presentations, exhibitions, competitions and other activities in six different areas of art. These games have their origins in ancient Greece and invoke the tradition of the ancient Pythian games as a peace -creating contest of the arts.

Historical reference

Pythian games as the famous agone claimed in ancient Greece for almost a thousand years of cultural and spiritual guidance, and had an equally high social rank as the sporting Olympics. The history of the Pythian Games in Delphi dates back 2600 years. They found each place in the year before the Olympics. The Panhellenic performances - notably in the fields of theater, music and poetry - paid homage to the god Apollo, who symbolized the light and beauty, the music, the poetry, the art of healing, and the prophecy of the Oracle. The Delphic Games were like the Olympic Games 394 AD by Emperor Theodosius I banned as a pagan.

Thanks to the initiative of Pierre de Coubertin and art competitions were held at the Olympic Games in various countries from 1912 to 1948. Medals were awarded for works which have exclusively a reference to topics of sport.

Thanks to the Greek poet Angelos Sikelianos initiative was tried in the first half of the 20th century in Greece, the Pythian Games at Delphi to revive it. In the second half of the 20th century, the International Delphic movement developed. In 1987 was founded in Munich in the " Musica Magna International " (MMI ) by J. Christian B. The first Junior Delphic Games were held in 1997 in Tbilisi / Georgia instead. The first Delphic Games for adults were held in 2000 in Moscow / Russia.

Russia played an active role in the development of the International Delphic Movement from the beginning. In 1999, the National Delphic Council of Russia became a member of the International Delphic Council, in December 2004, he announced his resignation.

After 2003, claiming many Russian websites and central mass media that Russia has revived the Delphic idea in 2000.

Despite separation of the National Delphic Council of Russia International Delphic Council, Russian delegations have participated in the International Delphic Games in 2007 and 2009. Organizations

Currently, two organizations through the Delphic Games.
