Delta Ursae Majoris

Megrez ( from Arabic المغرز, DMG al - maġriz, attach point [ tail ] ' ) is the name of the star δ Ursae Majoris (Delta Ursae Majoris ). Megrez has an apparent magnitude of 3.4 mag and belongs to the spectral class A2. Its distance is, according to Hipparcos database about 81 light-years. An alternative name is Kaffa.

Megrez is the middle star in the Big Dipper, where the square goes into the hitch, and much fainter than the other six stars. With 4 of this bright star Megrez car belongs to the so-called group of bears, a moving pile of over 100 stars distributed over half the sky. Our sun is in the range of this group, but moves in a different direction.
