Yaldabaoth (or Ildabaoth ) in some directions of the Gnosis of the creator of the material world, sometimes represented as lion-headed deity. He or she was considered a demiurge, who keeps her in this world, people. The name is probably from the Hebrew Jalda BAOT ( ילדא בהות ), "Daughter of Chaos " derive.

He is the son of Sophia, the personification of Wisdom in Gnosticism, which he denies. By kindness and simplicity creatively turned to the matter, created Sophia, without the knowledge of the other aeons the imperfect Yaldabaoth, the son of Chaos. From his mother he received the light forces, but which he uses for evil. Sophia rules the Ogdoad, the Demiurge of the Hebdomas. Yaldabaoth produced six other Archons and other allies. The Angels created by Him rebel against Yaldabaoth. In order to keep the angels in subjection, Yaldabaoth produces the world. In the act of creation itself Yaldabaoth but emptied its highest power. As Yaldabaoth the people breathed the soul that Sophia the divine spark of the spirit instilled him. After the matter Yaldabaoth generates the snake spirit ( Ophiomorphos ), the origin of all evil. The light beings Sophia caused by the serpent of the Fall of man. By enjoying the forbidden fruit they were enlightened and turned away from Yaldabaoth. This cast them out for punishment from the etheric region, Paradise. Yaldabaoth tried the people take the gift of the spark of light, which he has unknowingly lost to them, or to keep them in bondage. He tries to get people to recognize him as God through penalties. For lack of devotion he brought the flood upon the people, saved from what Sophia Noah. With Yaldabaoth Abraham made a covenant. He should serve him with his descendants.
