Democratic Labour Party (Barbados)

The Democratic Labour Party, the Social Democratic Party government in Barbados.

It was founded in 1955 and ruled until 1961. According to the independence of Barbados it was 1966-1976 under the leadership of Errol Barrow and 1986-1994 under Lloyd Erskine Sandiford in the government.

2005 David Thompson was party leader. The management of the Group, which was the only opposition in Parliament at this time, Thompson took over in 2006 also, after his predecessor Clyde Mascoll about joining the ruling Barbados Labour Party.

Since January 2008, the Democratic Labour Party is the ruling party again and, with David Thompson the incumbent Prime Minister of Barbados. After Thompson's death 23 October 2010 his former deputy, Freundel Stuart became the new prime minister.
