Democratic Left Party (Turkey)

The Democratic Left Party ( Demokratik Sol Parti Turkish ), short- DSP ​​, is a social democratic, democratic- socialist-oriented party in Turkey.

The current party leader is the former General Secretary Masum Türker.

History

The DSP was founded November 14, 1985 by Rahsan Ecevit, wife of politician Bulent Ecevit. Between 1997 and 2002 she was involved in several coalition governments and stood from 1999 to 2002 with the Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit. In the period from 2002 to 2007, the DSP was not represented in Parliament.

Since the general election of 2007, the DSP was represented by 13 deputies in the Turkish Grand National Assembly who were elected on the list of CHP, the DSP had waived in their favor on a separate ballot status. 2009 came from many members and founded the Demokratik Halk Partisi Sol, which went up in the CHP in 2010.

In the parliamentary elections of 2011, the DSP with 108 098 votes received only 0.25 % share of the vote and no more moved into the Parliament.
