Démosthenes Magalhães

Démosthènes Magalhães, known only as Démosthènes and in Italy as Demostene Bertini in Brazil ( 17 * November 1909 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian football player.

Followed in 1931 by Fernando Démosthènes Giudicelli - who, in order to play professional football in 1931 went to Italy to Torino FC - as a central midfielder of FC Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro.

On a visit to Rio in 1932 Giudicelli Démosthènes convinced to hire themselves out there as well as a professional footballer with him to Italy return. Since this was at that time only players possible with Italian family background, so-called Oriundi, he changed his name to Demostene Bertini, which sounds Italian to.

In the season 1932/33 he played with Giudicelli in Turin. There, the technically gifted players had an excellent start, but soon got into difficulty proving his Italian background. Because of this he could not be established for a long time. After that it caused him difficulties difficulty achieving their good form and he was not prepared frequently. In his two seasons, he was charged with seventh and twelfth Turin, where he came to 30 league operations.

He was then transferred to SG Sampierdarenese in Genoa. He was thereby established in the 1934/35 season with the club 13 and 28 times in the league.
